The Maranacook Lake Association supports many activities that protect and improve the water quality of Maranacook Lake and its watershed.
Maranacook Lake dams project.
The MLA worked with the Cobbossee Watershed District, the towns of Winthrop & Readfield and former owners of the two dams that control the level of Maranacook Lake to make it possible for the towns to take ownership of the dams. This paved the way for the receipt of grants to make needed repairs to the dams and changes which allowed for better control of the lake level. .[Read More ...]
Provide Courtesy Boat Inspectors.
The MLA prvides courtesy boat inspectors in coordination with the Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed at the Readfield and Winthrop public boat ramps. Boat inspections are our lake's first line of defense against invasive plants and animals. They have proven themselves as the most effective way to prevent invasives in Maine. .[Read More ...]
